About Juso

Juso, Joana is a self-taught Portuguese artist based in Luxembourg. She started painting at the age of 23, mainly working with acrylic and modelling paste. Her work is shaped by her feelings and experiences, exploring the darker, fragmented, raw and sensual nature of being human. She portrays her naked body as an image of openness to the viewer — and importantly, she does not present it as a self-portrait. Art is her voice and her freedom, a way to express her inner world with the hope that her work can reach those who have felt alone with the darker parts of themselves.
